Tutorial: How to upload ANY IMAGE into your Smoant Naboo mod (with step by step pics) https://ift.tt/2BA51JF

OK, so I won Smoant's new Naboo mod in their most recent giveaway, here on ECR. I saw that it had the capability to display user photos, but I couldn't find anyone on the net that had successfully done so.. at least not anyone that was into telling others how they did it..

With some trial and error, I managed to figure it out.

TLDR VERSION: use 240×320 .bmp / directly upload into the updater while connected

..and here is my tutorial (with pics) that I slapped together:

  • Load up your image into Photoshop, the Gimp or basically any image editor. You can even Google search and find some that you can use in a web browser.

  • Access the rectangular selection tool.

  • Change it from a freehand to a fixed aspect ratio tool.

  • Change the aspect ratio to 3×4 since we will be making a 240 (width) by 320 (height) image.

  • Once you frame up the portion of the image that you want to see on your mod, hit the Crop function which is usually found under Image / Crop.

  • Resize the image to 240×320. This is usually under Image / Resize. If you are shrinking a large image and your image editor allows for it, you may want to set it to bicubic sharper for a better picture.

  • OK, the image is in the correct aspect ratio and size, now make it into a bitmap. Go to File / Save As and on the saving menu, select BMP as the image type, then save it somewhere that is easily accessible.

  • Sometimes your image editor will ask you if you want 24 bit or 32 bit. Just don't touch anything and let it stay on 24 bit.

  • OK, the image is ready! Open up the Smoant Naboo updater program and plug in your mod. (You can download it on the Smoant website.) If this is your first time plugging in the Naboo, be patient. It can take up to FIVE MINUTES or longer to be recognized on the first coupling.

  • In the top right of the program, click the Background button. I've already added two backgrounds of my own in the first two slots. To add your image, click any of the images to start the process.

  • You'll be taken into this menu. Click the blank Add Picture box in the top left.

  • Now just point to the image that you saved earlier and click Save.

..and there you go.

Also, here is that derp cat image in case you want it on your mod:

Oh.. also, also, the updater is at: http://smoant.com/firmware/Naboo-update.rar .. and also, also, also, do note that the updater has several pages of images saved into it, you just have to click the image in the Background tab to select a different one in its place.
